What are tractor tyres and what do they do?

We all know that a tractor is made to give out a high traction with minimal speeds. This is down to the need of pulling large machines such as ploughs etc. Now that we have the basics out the way, lets move on to the tractor tyres.

The good thing to remember is that there are a lot of different tractor tyre available on the market today. Each of these many variations come with their own distinct abilities. Always take comfort in know that what ever task is assigned to the tractor, there will always be a farm tyre to help out. Whatever the specific need may be there should always be a good tyre for the job.

Before we proceed with a list of the most common types of these tyres, It is important to know the value of tyre pressure when driving a large tractor. Many experienced farmers will already know this but I am interested to know how many of you actually pay attention to this factor and put it into practice.

The reason why it is so important to have the tyres at the correct pressure is due to the fact that you will get maximum performance from your vehicle. Tyres on the wrong pressure for the wrong job can greatly reduce the effectiveness and performance of the farm vehicle

It is important to understand that a majority of farmers do not pay any attention to tyre pressure, and it will be these farmers who get hit in the pocket. Would you like to lose 40% engine force through slip resistance? This is a well known fact in the industry that if you are using a 400 horsepower vehicle, you will only really be utilizing 200 horse power of tractive power!

THE 350 TYRE – These are mostly used for spray jobs and jobs that involve harvesting, these can deal with many varied tasks on the farm.

THE 356 TYRE – Mostly used by tracors with immense power behind them, the way these tyres are created and designed will allow the tractor to have a low fuel consumption level, on top of that they also come with a good grip that is easy to drive.

THE 360 TYRE – These types of tractor tyre are still reletivly new, some of their capabilities are the fact that they can be usable at a low level of inflation. Not only that but the grip on these is amazing which has a design that actually allows the tyre to clean itself.

365 – These bad boys have low inflation and great grip. Still quite new to the market, they offer the tractor driver brilliant stability in almost any surface!

370 – These monsters are used for more modern tractors for heavy going jobs. They offer a huge load bearing capacity compared to most normal tractor tyres, they offer great soil and crop protection and will last for a very long time. Another important point is that you don’t need to change the rim when swapping from a normal tyre to these guys.
