If you were to walk into any store that carries audio equipment for cars and ask about getting speakers, it is very likely that you are going to be overwhelmed by the choices. To avoid some of the confusion and to help you select the perfect speakers for your car, it would be an excellent idea to learn all that you can about speakers and which ones will be the best fit for your particular vehicle.
So before you ever set foot into a store to purchase speakers for yourself, you are going to want to take the time to learn all that you can about the speakers that are available out there. You also need to be well aware of the factors involved with purchasing speakers aside from how much they are going to cost you.
There is a great deal of different car speaker types that are available out there. This can really turn your car into a mobile concert hall if you purchase the right equipment. Many of these options include:
A coaxial speaker is also commonly referred to as a three-way speaker. These types of speakers are a great purchase because they are actually multiple speakers that have been built into a single frame. Three-way speakers are quite affordable and are also very simple for even a novice to install. The only real bad point about getting a three-way speaker is that they are not very flexible.
Separates are speakers that are also known as component systems and they normally include a woofer and a tweeter. If you are getting a good component system, you will be getting great external crossover. When you are installing your speaker, the woofer should be placed in the kick panel or in the door. The tweeter is more flexible when it comes to installation and should be placed either at the top of the door panel or the dashboard.
Horns are excellent speakers that are very well known for their efficient sound-directing qualities. Horns with speakers are at a much higher priced than other types of speakers, however, you will be getting rid of the need to purchase tweeters. Getting these speakers professionally installed would be an excellent idea. This way you will be getting the very best possible sound coming out of your speakers.
Mid base speakers are quite unique, as they can achieve lower frequency than other speakers out there in the market. You might again want to consider professional installation so that you can make certain that the cross over is put in correctly, however, if you decide to put the speakers in yourself they are fairly simple to install.
Beyond the actual type of speakers, there are a few other specifications with speakers to consider before making a purchase. They include:
Power ” Make sure speakers, especially woofers, have roughly the same power handling ability that the amp driving them has.
Loudness sensitivity is also extremely important when it comes to making the choice to purchase speakers. This is going to help you figure out how loud your speaker can get and still have great sound quality.
The size of the speakers that you want to purchase is very important. You are going to want to make sure that the speakers are actually going to be able to fit inside your automobile. If your speakers fit well into your car, you are certainly going to be able to enjoy a great sound.
Having the proper enclosures is also very important when you are considering speakers for your car. For example, if you have put woofers in any free space in your car, you are going to want to make sure that you have some type of enclosure for them. This way the sound quality of your speakers will remain at their best.
There is more to speakers than meets the eye, or ears. Selecting the right kind can mean the difference between a ride that sings and one that falls flat.
