Hiking in the deserts of Cabo is best done during the winter, considering the high temperatures during summer. Although hiking can also be done during summer time but it is preferably done early in the morning. If you want to include hiking and cycling in your to-do list when going to Cabo, you can choose to go with experienced hikers or with a guided hiking tour from companies offering the service.
The vegetation in the area as well as the spectacular rock formations are just among the many things you will encounter and appreciate when you hike in the deserts of Cabo. You can also observe and explore the native wildlife of the place. It is advisable however, to put on your long pants and leather boots as you may never know if you can encounter jack rabbits or snakes along the way.
Among the favorite hiking sites in Cabo are La Laguna Mountains and the Cape region’s fossil fields. If you join a guided hiking tour to these destinations, you will also be enriched with valuable information of the place including its history.
Another recommendable hiking spot is the waterfalls at Santiago. The falls, popularly known as cascadas, can be found at the southern part of Santiago. It will only take you an easy half an hour climb through boulders of rocks and you will be met with a refreshing pool of water that would be great for a good swim.
There are also cycling adventures you may want to do in Cabo. Mountain bikes can be rented in an hourly basis at the Desert Park. Among the favorite spots for cycling in Cabo is the desert and at the old lighthouse area.
If you go cycling, bringing a map and some first-aid supplies would be of great help. It is also advisable to ride along with others to enjoy the adventure more.
