Inverness, frequently referred to as the capital of the Highlands of Scotland, was granted city status in two thousand and one and at the moment is the only city to be found in the Highlands of Scotland. Strangely the city has no statutory boundaries which can cause problems with population estimation. The estimations are less likely to be accurate by the fact that Inverness’ population is increasing, the city has Britain’s highest growth rate. One thing we can say for certain is that the city has a fairly happy population, in 2008 the Telegraph.co.uk ranked Inverness fifth out of 189 cities in the UK for its quality of life. Following on we can safely state that Inverness is a pretty alright city in which to stay and this is probably one of the factors which make Inverness incredibly popular with tourists. Crucially there is a great deal of Inverness bed and breakfasts with the majority of it being available to book online.

Inverness, often referred to as the capital of the Highlands of Scotland, was eventually granted city status in the year 2001 and is currently the the only city to be found in the region. Uniquely (in the United Kingdom) Inverness has no statutory boundaries which creates problems with population statistics. The calculations are made less accurate because Inverness’ population is on the increase, the city has the highest growth rate of any city in Great Britain. One thing we can state with some certainty is that the city has a rather happy population, in 2008 the Telegraph took a survey of the quality of life in 189 cities in Britain and the city came fifth. So I think we can state that Inverness is a lovely city in which to live and this is probably one of the facts which make Inverness incredibly popular with tourists. It is lucky then that there is plenty of bed and breakfast accommodations in Inverness with the majority being bookable online.
