There are a lot of suggestions out there telling you how to defend your guard. Some of these are: do not allow the other fighter to get a hold of your knees, find an angle, or drive your legs to the ground. However, there is one suggestion that I often see novices failing to do. You must control your opponent’s head to help you defend your guard.
Everyone who wants to learn jiu jitsu knows how vital it is to learn quickly. For those of you who have been in training for awhile, you already know you have to progress quickly to survive. You probably already know a few moves like a sweep or a submission, but it is hard to get better because you can’t use these moves on other people in your class. You can grapple for hours on end, but it’s not making you progress quickly enough.
Balanced diet and correct exercise are extremely important with regard to a healthy body and healthy mind. Without having a healthy body, no one can climb through the ladder of success. You need to do proper exercise to help keep oneself fit.

It has produced many top notch professional fighters including Randy Couture, Matt Lindland, Ed Herman and Ryan Schultz. Regional MMA promotions like Lindland’s SportFight and amateur MMA draws good crowds.
On a historic night for the UFC and the sport of mixed martial arts, Brock Lesnar avenged his early loss to Frank Mir with a TKO victory and in the process unified the promotions heavyweight championship at UFC 100. Mir/Lesnar was the main event of a stacked card and the culmination of an insane week in Las Vegas.
Not too long ago, Mark Coleman headlined UFC 109 facing Randy Couture. Several days later, he’s apparently no longer good enough to remain in the UFC at all. On Wednesday, following a lopsided loss to Couture the UFC released Coleman from his contract and cut the veteran heavyweight. Coleman is now free to sign with any other promotion, but at 46 years of age his most likely-and most advisable-course of action is retirement.
Georges St-Pierre was born May 19, 1981 in Saint-Isidore, Quebec, to Jim and Louise St-Pierre. St-Pierre had a difficult childhood, attending a school where others would steal his clothes and money. When thinking about how many UFC rules there were in the ring I could only think of about five. You may be surprised to see the list below with thirty rules involved. Hugh Hefner is really starting to show his age, but there he was at cageside wearing his trademark pajamas and bathrobe. Every time the STRIKEFORCE cameramen got a shot of him with the comment that “There’s Hef looking on” it appeared as if he was taking the opportunity to attend to some paperwork. Had he bothered to look up every now and then he would have enjoyed a spirited night of fighting.
Former UFC fighter Kimo Leopoldo is alive and well after numerous mainstream media reports of his death. The New York Daily News was first to report the story that Kimo had died of a heart attack, and it quickly spread to other media outlets. MMA insiders were immediately skeptical, as there were few details or any independent confirmation.
