The DHA is a sugar that creates a chemical reaction in your dead skin cells to change the color of the cells. Older forms of tanning lotions would contain high levels of DHA that resulted in the users skin turning orange in color. Todays formula has been so refined that turning orange from tanning lotion is now a myth. DHA based products are among the safest forms of sunless tanning.
