Ever since 1974, when NASA scientist Jack Cover invented the first stun gun, ordinary people and law enforcement officials alike have been using stun guns as non-lethal self-defense tools. Stun guns are a type of electroshock weapon”a weapon that emits a high-voltage electrical discharge”that can neutralize attackers without killing them, except in rare cases where the stun gun is used for too long on someone with a pre-existing medical condition, usually heart problems.
