8 Nov 2009In 1929, Hungarian-born Joseph Dallos perfected the method of molding lenses to fit human eyes. His pioneering work opened the door for the mass production and consumption of contact lenses. But as is the case with all inventions, they aren’t created in a void. Standing on the shoulders of giants, Dallos owed a great deal to those who came before him.
Contemporary contact lenses are comfortable, lasting (unless by design, as in disposables) and very sound. That’s not to say that there aren’t some dangers involved with wearing contact lenses and once you recognize them it’s easier to select the right type for you Of course, any such conclusion should be made in consultation with your eye care professional.
