Where to start! This does not need to be expensive. Basic equipment for this is pretty simple. Like everything we all tend to add here as we go along and get carried away. Different people seem to use different things, so this is a general idea of what one might need to get started.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or so it was decided for us. In the days before the internet was available to most of us, it was only a handful of art critics, so called experts and of course the almighty art galleries that could make or break an artist. In other words it was decided for us what was deemed art and what was not.

Pastels are a strong and also colourful way of painting. The medium itself is dry and because of its powdery surface the light reflects well. So, with pastels, they give out very intense colouring, more so than any other medium.

What is masking? Well you may ask! Masking is a method of covering certain areas of a painting, so they are, in fact, protected while you apply paint to the other parts. In principal this is a fairly easy way of gaining effects to your work that otherwise seemed not possible.

Sanguine is the main colour in Conte crayons. It too is the name of a drawing, if this is used as a medium. This medium can either be chalk or crayon, with the pigment containing oxide and actually made of chalk or clay. It is often called red chalk. Sanguine can be a reddish brown, flesh colour or a blood red in colour.

How we all long for a bit of time to just relax and take it easy! We all seem to work so hard, yet find such little time in our lives to just purely relax and unwind. Particularly when we need this so badly. Never the less, we all look for our bit of peace in different ways.

Terracotta is quite popular in its natural form, but some people prefer it to be decorated, so I wrote this article with that in mind.

How much simpler could it possibly be? This really is an easy method to make pictures to adorn your walls. They are generally interesting to the observer and attractive at the same time. They also make good presents for people and are remarkably cheap to make.
