22 Jun 2009Ever since man embarked on trading for goods and services, he needed transportation. This inevitably led to the emergence of caravans which then became an indispensable part of the trade. In the earlier days, people, from parts of Middle East and Arabia, transported goods from place to place across the long deserts and forests in order to get buyers for their goods. These people were called as Nomads. However, in the modern days, people still travel, but not on the camels and horses, but on the motor vehicles. People travel on mobile homes which are also called as recreational vehicles from place to place. The purposes of traveling are many. These people travel on vehicles which are temporary and look as normal homes. Trucks are generally used for these camps. The mobile home is more or less similar to the actual home except that it has a driving cabin at the front. The driver cabin looks like the ordinary cabin in most of the vehicles. But the rest of the mobile home looks similar to the normal home with back doors and windows. The mobile home, like the original home, consists of living rooms, rest rooms, and kitchen. Even there will be heating systems and air conditioning equipment in the mobile home. These caravans consists of everything a normal home has except that it is traveling.
The great trade routes that we study in history books are the result of the desire of the Man to trade on long and short distances. The aim of these trips is to get what he does not have or to sell what he already has. Arabia, parts of North Africa and West Africa and Middle East were having trade routes in earlier days though these routes have existed wherever a civilization existed. Even these days, we can see nomads of North and West Africa going on expeditions. These nomads are generally tribes in those regions. They go on expeditions along with camels, horses and donkeys. When these animals were laid with goods to be traded by the traders and commuted, it is called as a caravan.

All aspects of life are becoming high performance these days. Our generations life is a whole lot easier than our forefathers. But all of our ancestors basic needs, are still our basic needs to this very day.

In ancient times numerous trade routes wound through North Africa, Arabia and West Africa where traders and sold and exchanged their wares. The nomadic groups of North and West Africa still traverse through across the desert terrain to this mostly on camels, donkeys and camels.
