Hormonal changes, a natural offshoot of the aging process, cause men and women alike to experience various physical changes. Men do not undergo anything like menopause in the later years of their middle age; however, andropause does occur, caused by a decrease in testosterone levels. This decrease actually starts when men are in their thirties, and each following decade the decrease is about 30%. The most well-know consequence of this hormonal change is a lowered libido; however, other effects can also occur on the male body.

Having lower than normal levels of testosterone may indeed affect the likelihood of developing Type 2 Diabetes in men, as recent studies have shown that those with normal testosterone levels seem to have a lower incidence of Type 2 Diabetes.
