An assisted living residence is a type of care center for senior citizens who are no longer able to live independently but do not require the 24/7 care provided by a nursing home. The typical assisted living resident may need help with things like preparing a meal, taking a shower, or managing medications, but is otherwise able to live without care and supervision. In Texas, assisted living facilities (ALFs) are known as personal care facilities. Facilities caring for four people or fewer do not require a license; those taking care of five or more people must seek licensing through the state.

Scanning the various options available to parents wanting to enroll their children in a good dance school can have quite a few pitfalls. It should be a ‘no brainer’, but ultimately a dance school’s curriculum can be the deciding factor in whether a child continues their dance classes or not.

Mixed martial arts has made a big splash with sports fans in recent years. A reality TV show about the UFC (the official organization of MMA fighting) brought a lot of publicity to the sport; leading many take an interest in the sport. There has been some concern on the part of boxing fans that the ever growing popularity of MMA has detracted from the attention paid to boxing. However, the two sports are very different from each other and there is no reason why the popularity of one should be in inverse proportion to that of the other. MMA isn’t boxing and doesn’t pretend to be. There’s no reason at all that the two sports (and their fans) can’t coexist.

The American sports scene is a constantly changing landscape; the sports which were the most popular a century ago have lost their status and new sports have pulled ahead of the pack. However, it doesn’t take a hundred years for the priorities and tastes of American sports fans to shift. Tastes can change in a few decades or even a few years time. Sports go in and out of vogue for many different reasons; good timing, a stroke of luck or spectacular events.

We tend to think of baseball as the American national pastime, but is this sport still worthy of the title? Baseball hasn’t been the most popular sport in the US for quite some time now and even though it is undeniably an important piece of our national heritage, it doesn’t occupy the same place of prominence in the American consciousness which it once did. Baseball has largely been replaced both as a form of entertainment and as a shared cultural experience by different sports and activities.

Curiously enough, Kobe Bean Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard is named after the Japanese beef. Along with Shaquille O’Neal, this All-Star player led the Lakers to no less than three consecutive NBA Championships (in 2000, 2001 and 2002).

Mixed martial arts has grown in popularity exponentially after the last several years. This is due in part to a variety of factors, including a reality television show from the UFC that brought the sport to the masses for the first time. The UFC continues to produce high quality fights since all of the fighters are under their control, which helps to add to their popularity. Some people feel that MMA is replacing or has already replaced boxing in our culture but in truth they are different sports and you don’t have to like or follow just one.

When it comes to the game of golf, senior players can still enjoy the thrill of competion by participating in tournaments both locally and internationally. Many of the senior golfers choose to compete in the tournaments and so many have names that are very familiar. It was not until 1980 that the winners of the Senior Tours were recognized but since then they have been, and deservedly so.

Richard Petty is a certifiable NASCAR legend. He has won 200 races in his career, just one of the records he holds. He is also a seven time Daytona 500 winner, the only racer other than Dale Earnhardt to do so. There is no doubt that Petty is an all-time great when it comes to competitive racing.
