You might think about hypnosis as a way to put thoughts into people’s heads, but in fact you don’t need to hypnotize people to do this. Subliminal messages are used all throughout the world to covey messages to people, even when they are awake. This is normally through the TV during adverts. These advertising companies have figures out how to use subliminal messages to make people buy their products. So what is a subliminal message?

Most of the time, a subliminal message will be used in the background of a song. It can even be used in TV adverts to make you more willing to buy the products. The brain will detect these messages even if you don’t hear them consciously.

Your mind will control your actions and you will be totally unaware of it. You might feel like eating a chocolate one day and what you might not have realized was that you were told that you wanted a chocolate during an advert the day before.

A subliminal message can be dangerous because your mind will not perceive it in the right way. Your brain will not filter it correctly because you will not have consciously heard it, which means that you have no concept of judgment about it. There is no logic behind it and you might take in a lot of unwanted information.

Here are some ways that you can stop the subliminal messages. You know that they can be received when you listen to music and watch TV, but if you concentrate while watching and listening it is far better. Your brain will not be totally unconscious in this way, so you have more control over what you receive.

Instead of leaving the TV on or using the radio as a form of background noise, rather switch them off. If you are going to listen to music then actually listen and if you want to make yourself coffee or something during an ad break, rather turn the TV off until you get back.
