Creating Online Polls are a Great Way of Developing Loyal Visitors

How do you get visitors to your site, have them browse around for awhile and soak in all you have to offer? Entire industries are built around that very topic.

First you have to get visitors to your site. Creating a regular online poll is just one way to do that. After they’re there, you have enough quality to keep them there. If not, you’d better get busy! In any event, you should consider adding polls into your site.

Poll are very easy to create and there’s a ton of good software (most of it free) available to download and install. If you’re a WordPress user, there are poll plugins.

So, how does an online poll build your visitor/customer loyalty? Think about this. If the polls are short and interesting, you’d get a chance to voice your opinion (even if only 100 people vote, you’re still voicing your opinion) so why wouldn’t you return? But the key, in my opinion, is to keep the questions and answers short and sweet. Keep it Simple.

The length a poll is open range from a few hours to years and pretty much everything in between. I have two online poll sites running right now, one that expires daily, and a new poll replacing it. The second poll is a weekly poll and it expires after a full week. Again, I put another thoughtful poll in its place.

My online poll has been up for a few days, and I already have a few loyal visitors. A few loyal visitors may not seem like much to you (and in the grand scheme it really isn’t), but these are people I’ve never met who live in a different area of the world than I do, and they want to know what my topic will be tomorrow!

If you use Wordpress, you may want to look at WP-Polls plugin and Polldaddy.com. One of those two should be sufficient for your needs. It takes a bit to set up WP-Polls but after it’s set up, it’s very easy. Polldaddy is simple easy to set up. You are a bit limited in the format of the poll, but for ease, you can’t beat it.

Rashelle,

I found this post really useful. I am fairly new to blogging and was wondering about how to go about doing exactly this. Your article has spurred me on to do it. I use WordPress 2.8 so will definitely look at the wp-polls plugin.

So, thank you for the information.

Regards

Glenn
