The International English Language Testing, or IELTS, needs proper preparation in order do be passed. I’m going to discuss some very important steps needed to be taken in order to pass the IELTS. This test is required for people who are seeking to enter certain countries in order to work or attend school.
Do not use slang
When taking the test, you must understand you are not talking to acquaintances or family so you must avoid slang, even though it is commonly used, especially American slang. Mental mistakes like these can end up costing you dearly. Here are some examples of the words to avoid.
Do not use gonna instead of going to, dunno for don’t know, or wanna for want to. These are just a few you should avoid.
Instead of contractions, practice using full forms.
You will be given the option of joining words (contractions) or keeping them separate. Some example of contractions are I’ll for I will, you’ll for you will, can’t for can not and wouldn’t for would not.
The thing to be aware of is not to use these forms on the written part of the test. It is acceptable to use them in the speaking part.
Practice the writing portion
The written portion is the most important part of the test, so you must be careful not to use “chat room” or “IM” writing. Do not use u for you, k for ok, cya for see you or lol for laugh out loud. Phone texting, Skype, and internet chat rooms have made this form of writing more common.
Keep in mind while going through your IELTS preparation to keep in mind that it is easy to confuse the phrases especially if you aren’t a native English speaker.
With the right IELTS preparation the IELTS isn’t that hard to do. There are numerous ways to prepare for this test to make sure you get a high enough score to pass. Just make sure you take the test as quickly as possible after you have done all your preparations, while the information is still fresh in your mind
