25 Aug 2009So, we heard you just got a lovely pet and you would like to start training him or her. If that is so, then we have some dog training advice. As you are reading this article, you should take note that this comes from an individual who has been around dogs ever since they were born. In fact, we cannot think of a time when we were not around a dog. We have had Labradors, bulldogs, German shepherds, Rottweiler’s and right now, we have a Red Nose American Pit Bull terrier.
Personally, we allow our pit bull, Copper to sleep in our bed, but that is our choice, we do not know what you prefer. If you prefer to have your dog crate trained, then you should start that from day one.
When you first bring your pet home, you need to start training him or her to wear a collar.
When you first get your puppy, you will need to teach him or her to walk on a leash. First, you should start by introducing the pup to a collar.
You will find that walking your dog is very fun and in due time, with the right amount of motivation and patience, you will have a dog that walks side by side with you on the leash.
As you are training your dog, no matter what you do, you need to have confidence in your pet. It goes without saying that if you have confidence in your dog, he or she is going to have confidence in you at the same time. As you are training the dog, you will be building up a loving relationship. Remember, do not shout at your pet.
