The Walt Disney Company has been able to produce a long line of characters people from different generations and walks of life. Though there are newer character productions such as those of Lilo and Stitch as well as that of Nemo; the classic characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto and the rest of the gang has is still around which people have and still do dearly enjoy.

Much like all great memories, people have the tendency to look for something to grab hold to, for them to be able to constantly be reminded of the great characters and stories which they have all grown to love. The Disney Company has put this thought to great weight; thinking about ways on how they can help fans have something to remember their favorite Disney production by means of simple Disney Pins.

The Disney line has created a number of editions and series for their Disney Pins. These are mostly available in Disney stores and among other places which carry their line; however for those who wish to have only the greatest authentic pieces, there are a few things one must know.

Tens of thousands of pins have been manufactured, distributed, bought, collected and traded. However, for each line of Disney Pins made, a piece is immediately kept inside the Disney archive vault for safe keeping and more so to be able to preserve it and keep it part of the entire pin line. For these great pins, it is rather important for one to know how to easily spot an authentic piece from that of a bootleg.

One of the most important markings of the pins produced by Disney is the Back Stamps. These markings contain the most important pieces of information on each pin which contains the manufacturer, manufacturing date and place, copyright information, series number or the edition size, etc.

Disney Pins come in different designs, prints, materials and features unique from each other. One of the most popular pins is the Die-cast pin; these are composed of brass zinc alloy which have been created by optimum grade hand engraved dies which is able to provide the 3D effect on the pins. Another is the Dangler pin which is not as different as that of the regular pin; the only difference is the fact that the dangler pin has an extended base which hangs by one or multiple loops. There are also other trading pins which have grown novelty popularity such as the lenticular pins which is featured with two or more prints which can be visible when the actual pin is tilted. Another is the Light-up pin which is rather self-explanatory.

There are also Slider pins which are quite fascinating as this pin has the ability to have a moving object such as a tiny car move and slide from one side of the pin’s base to the other. The Spinner pins are also great with the slight difference of the movement; it is able to move one section of the pin to spin around 360 degrees to be able to constantly show the surface design of the pin.

All great things must end – just like the old saying says; this also applies to the Disney Pins as there is what is called the retired pins or those which have stopped production. And where some things end, others begin; as one line ceases to be reproduced, another design of line is then introduced for avid Disney aficionados to be able to enjoy.
