11 Jun 2009When you see parking lot lines, you dont seem to think how they were painted there. You simply know that it is a pretty easy job. Just like every other jobs, no matter how easy they may seem to us, there are things that we need to consider. The following are the steps in painting parking lot lines.
The surface should be well cleaned. First, get rid of the stones, and other pieces of debris. Use a broom if needed to get rid of smaller dirt. Use soap detergents or driveway cleaners if needed, to make sure that the surface is clean enough for the application of paint. Parking lot stripers also make less mess in less time consumed. On the other hand using a paint roller that is 4 inches wide can still be considered, especially if budget is tight.
Take care of the cracks and holes. There are emulsion fillers for simple cracks, and there are tars for bigger cracks and holes. Make sure before the application that there is no water stuck in the cracks or holes. Cover the filler with a sealer that will quickly dry.
To protect the parking lot floor surface, use seal coat. This will help you protect the floor from water, gas, oil, and smoke. For tough dirt and stains, use of cleaners or detergents can be done just to make sure that the paint will be on the surface of the lot so that it will last longer. Remove all tough stains, and only apply strong stain removers on the area of stains.
Take into account the shade of the paints of the parking lot. The colors should not lose to those of the wall and floor surface. Make sure that the lines are clear. Some also try using tar or asphalt as the base for the parking lot lines and marking, and then they are painted. By doing so, the lines and marks are easier to notice. This is most helpful to the handicaps.
Use sealcoat on the parking lot. This will ensure you that your parking lot is protected from smoke, oil, gas, and water. Resealing is required if the lot has been left not maintained for a long time. The sealcoat also gives a nice, shiny finish.
To assist the handicaps, use of special utensils may be needed. As for example, a platform for people who are in wheelchairs should be easily found. Walking hallways should also be easy to follow. The above are tips that can help in making the job easier.
