Weekly Craft Show Tips Part One

New Year’s Eve is almost here, and it’s a sign heralding the arrival of spring. I have been working almost constantly on my crafted items so I will be able to participate in the My Weekly Farmer’s Market, which is set to happen in April. I enjoyed myself during the last market; and as there were a lot of inquiries about how I set up at this weekly event, I decided to collate all the articles. I hope this will encourage you to take the plunge and run your own booth there.

Basically, these are the things that I have learned the hard way through trial and error. The information I will present is specific to a weekly show as opposed to a one-time gig. So, without further ado, let us begin!

What particular items could you sell at a weekly show? And aside from that, how do you get customers to stop by your booth or stall and buy something? It seems that variety has done a lot for me. People returning to a weekly market are less likely to go by your booth if they don’t see anything new, based on my experience. They can, after all, have only so much of a particular thing that you are selling. Add more things and try to rotate your wares, but try to keep yourself in a cozy little niche, too.

It is also important for you to offer a wider variety of price points besides just offering a selection of different goods. A lot of people will buy something at five dollars, but these same people will probably not pay fifteen or twenty dollars on something else, even if they like it better. Have lower priced items on your booth, as well.

And, listen to your customers. It’s a good way to improve on your crafts. They’ll be more likely to give constructive criticism when you ask for it, but be tactful about it. Some will even give comments on their own. Don’t ignore the comments, as these will help you better your crafts.
