In order to raise the moisture level of air inside a room we use a humidifier. Humidifier in general is a house old equipment or appliance. When we speak about humidifier or air moisture, the term humidity comes to play. Humidity is the degree of water vapor present in the atmosphere surrounding you. Absorption of water by air depends on the relative humidity of the place.

Humidity in general could be high or low, depending on the situation. It is the measure of presence of water vapor in atmosphere. Depending upon the amount of water vapor in air the humidity varies. In highly humid conditions we won’t perspire and makes us to feel a lot warmer than the actual temperature in the room. In this position, the air is dumped fully with water content and is not able to absorb any more.

If the humidity of the air is in its lower level, then it indicates that it can absorb much of water. So the air absorbs large quantities of water, this makes you to sweat rapidly because of the air which gets sucked in the water vapor. Both the situations are not good for humans, so we prefer to use a humidifier so as to increase the humidity artificially.

Evaporative humidifier is self regulating type. The basic parts of an evaporative humidifier are a fan, a reservoir and a wick. Wick is nothing but a filter which is used to absorb water. Water is absorbed from the reservoir. Water vapor decreases if the humidity increases. This type of humidifier requires regular cleaning. If it is not cleaned or replaced properly then the humidifier will stop humidifying, so the level electric humidifier. It does not require electricity to power the unit. It uses a capillary system.

Ultrasonic humidifiers generates vapor by developing ultrasonic vibration of a diaphragm within the surface of water. The risk of dispersing molds, bacteria and minerals were found to be in the lower level in ultrasonic humidifiers. This device is much safer than the steam vaporizers, and also disperses less mold and bacteria when compared to cool mist humidifiers.

Vaporizer humidifier is also known as warm mist humidifier or steam humidifier. They consume more electricity to boil water. In this type of humidifier, the steam does not contain minerals, so it is healthful than impeller humidifier. By using distilled water, amount of minerals that are suspended in the water can be greatly reduced.

Buildings which have huge forced air furnaces can make use of a humidifier inside it, and can be used increase the humidity of the entire building. Drum and disc designs of humidifiers rely on a rotating wheel arrangement resting on water. A flow through humidifier used an aluminum biscuit filled with holes and a nozzle at top.

Cool mist or impeller humidifier use a rotating disc which splashes water to a comb like structure diffuser. Water droplets are broken by the diffuser and make it float in air. One can visualize the exiting of droplets as a cool fog.
