When you hire a nanny you will want to make sure she is a reputable person who is of good character. You need to know more about them then just what you see. The only way you can accomplish this is to do a nanny background check on them.

Your children are one of the most important aspects of your life. You don’t want to leave them with just anyone, but working and trying to be there when they come home from school is not easy. That is why you have decided to hire a nanny. It is better than a babysitter, and they will live in your house which makes them readily available for your kids.

When you decide to get a nanny one of the main things that you need to consider is if it will be safe to leave them by themselves with your kids. You will be leaving your nanny to take care of your home, your car, your children, and even your pets. After hearing all of the nanny horror stories you just can’t leave them there without first doing a background check on them.

The process of running a background check on your nanny is fairly simple. You will just need a bit of information and a credit card to pay for the fee that is required. You can choose to do a check on their personal affairs, criminal history, or both. You will gain all of the information that you will need in order to decide if this person can be trusted to care for your family.

Another thing you need to look into is an online clearinghouse. This is a database of nannies that have been accused and sometimes even charged with any offenses that had to do with the children that they cared for.

Now that you have finished going through all of the official background checks, you will need to check out the references, certifications, and educational degrees that the nanny has given you.

Make sure that you take the time to go through each and every reference that your nanny has supplied to you. Call their past employers and all of their personal references. Make sure that everything checks out before ever giving her the job. It may seem like it will take way too long to check out each and every reference, but considering that this person will be caring for your children it is well worth it.

Before ever letting the nanny move into your home you will want to get to know them better. Spend an entire day at a park with them and the kids, or at least do a little family get together. It is important to allow your whole family to adjust to this new person and let this person adjust to your family. You will be glad you did it.
