Everybody has a favorite color or colors. In feng shui, the use or colors is far above personal favorites. Here’s how the colors affect the peace and tranquility in your home.

Wood, metal fire wind and earth are the five elements essential to feng shui philosophy. There is a color or group of colors associated with each element and the energy it exudes.

Earth – According to feng shui ideology, beige and light shades like a pale yellow are associated with the Earth element and Earth is responsible for promoting stability in our lives. These shades brighten us up leading to a feeling of anything is possible.

Fire – Red, pink, bright yellow and orange are Fire element colors. They invoke feelings of energy and passion that leads you to a higher personal vibration. Fire goes hand in hand with passion and heat.

Wood – In feng shui, the wood element is an ancient symbol of prosperity. Trees are made of wood and they contain lush green leaves and provide an abundance of oxygen for the people of the world. In keeping with these “life givers” the colors for this element are green and brown. So, it’s not a coincidence that money is green!

Metal – You might not think metal is an example of feng shui but don’t be surprised to find out you’re mistaken. Metal brings clarity and clearness to your existence. The colors that stand for this are gray and white.

Water – Water regenerates the body and the spirit. It cleanses you and also stands for abundance and plenty. Black and blue represent water and their use pushes the feeling of purity and refreshment in your home.

I really encourage you not to be intimidated by the use of colors. Use the feng shui energy map as your guide and go for it. The correct use of the feng shui colors not only on the walls but, also with furniture and artwork will get the energy flowing in your home. It inspires both the body and mind.
