2 Jun 2009If you know what you are looking for and select wisely, you can find a cheap mattress that fits your budget and your bedroom. It is no longer necessary to spend your last dime on a new bed because every top brand name has their line of lower priced models.
When you hear about people who are incredibly dissatisfied with their new bed, chances are they simply chose the wrong mattress for their sleep preferences. In that situation there is no chance for happiness, so it is important to know what you are after and not settle for anything less. Yes, you can do that even when shopping on a budget!
The most common mistake shoppers make is to select the wrong level of firmness for the sleeping surface. If you are unsure how firm or soft you need the mattress to be for complete comfort then visit a store with a lot of mattresses on display and take the time to lay on different models.
This is not the place to make concessions in order to get a good price. If you need something super soft to feel comfortable then you are not going to sleep well on a firm surface no matter how cheap it is.
Once you know whether you need something firm, plush or somewhere in the middle, start looking at different models offered by brand names you are familiar with. Your chances of finding a quality mattress are higher with brands known for top notch beds because they have a reputation to live up to.
When comparing different mattresses within your price range, consider not only the materials used inside but how much of those materials is actually in there. For instance, some memory foam mattresses only contain small amounts of foam in sections of the mattress and others include solid layers.
With any sort of foam, the higher the density models will deliver more comfort and are likely to last longer. Density simply means how thick the layers of the foam are.
If you want something super soft that really cradles your body, then look for a pillowtop mattress. This just means a large pillow is sewn onto the top so that your body sinks down and is more comforted. Lower priced models are now coming with this option at little to no extra expense.
If you make wise choices and look around to get the lowest prices possible on top brands, you are likely to find your cheap mattress just as comfortable as a more expensive one.
