Bathrooms are not always easy to decorate. Sometimes it can be hard to decide what colors to use and what fixtures will go well in your bathroom. There are some things that you may want to take into consideration when decorating your bathroom. The first thing that you want to take into consideration is your budget. The next thing to take into consideration is what type of themes you like or dislike. Last but not least, you need think about the function of the bathroom you are decorating.

Before setting out a decorating project, consider major points to help you with estimating costs. For instance, do you want a major overhaul? Do you want to paint the bathroom walls or change the flooring? What items do you need to replace and add?

If you need to do all of these things and your budget is small, you might want to consider checking out some resale shops for items such as rugs, towels and linens. You might even consider making your own shower curtain out of some extra fabric that you already have. Often times you can get paint at a discount if it has already been mixed. While it may take some patience, you will eventually find a color that you like if you make a few trips to the paint store on different days.

Having a bigger budget of course will make the planning and shopping much easier. Remember though that not all expensive items are great finds. Saving is still practical and buying items for a lot less will give you more chances of buying other things you want.

I have yet to decide which theme I’ll use. I find hotel bathrooms appealing because of their sophistication, but I also like beach house bathrooms because they look so laidback and simple. I’ll base my bathroom decorations from the theme I’ll choose. Seaside theme is popular because of the freshness of the blues and greens. It looks so serene. But I prefer the ambiance of spa bathrooms. It’s so zen! Victorian style although classy is too grand for me and my pockets.

If it’s a family bathroom, make sure there’s enough space for everyone’s personal items. Segregate things with containers. It’s a good idea to have extra storage by having a customized wall shelf or additional drawers. If there’s no way to install drawers or a closet, decorative baskets can also serve as storage where you can put the linens and towels. On the other hand, if you’re decorating a guest bathroom, then simply ensuring that there is space and storage for the guest to comfortably place his/her things is okay. Same with decorating your own bathroom. You can be as creative and daring as you want.

Have a good time redecorating your bathroom. When you are finished give yourself a pat on the back for all your hard work. After that just sit back and enjoy it!
