How To Remodel Your Bathrooms With A Little Effort

To remodel bathrooms you have to first tear them down. You first begin by taking out the previous tile from all the walls. You then take out the vinyl floor. You will want to have an electric fan to keep the dust from building up and causing a health risk while you are working. To replace the tub with a shower stall you have to break apart the old tub and take it out in pieces. Use a sledge hammer for this and remember to always wear eye protection.

You need a plumber to seal off the pipes to your bathroom so you will still have water to the rest of your house. After demolition screw three quarter inch plywood which will make a good base. You will want to add safety bars to above the new tub so you will have to add additional framing in between the wall studs to fasten the safety bars to. Safety bars are always a good idea because the bathroom is the place where many accidents can occur so you want to make your new bathroom as safe as you possibly can.

You will want to lay a concrete base where you will put the shower stall so that the shower base will be very strong. Level the concrete base so that you have a level foundation for the shower stall.

The shower fiberglass base has to be leveled perfectly and then fastened to the wall supports. When the base of the stall is in place cover it with cardboard and a piece of plywood to protect it as you work above it.

Use construction glue to attach the framing board above the shower base where you will next attach the cement board. Cut the cement board fitted over the base of the shower. You will next nail the cement board to the framing that you have applied the construction glue to. Cement board for your information is one half inch cement and a fiberglass combination. Once the cement board has been attached apply tape over the seams. Then apply water proof sealant over the board in order to make it water proof.

Then have an electrician available to place the needed wires to place your exhaust fan above the shower. You have to place holes in the wall for the wires. Next measure and place the cement board on the floor for the tile floor base. Coat the walls and ceiling so that when you paint the walls and ceiling will have a textured look and so you will not see the holes and cut outs.

Install the tile around the shower wall using thin set adhesive. For a nice design use a diagonal cut tile of a different color in the middle of the wall. Floor tile is installed after the wall tile and is allowed to dry overnight. You can install wax coating on the lower walls. The vanity and the toilet are installed after the floor tile dries over night. Next the wall tile needs to be grouted.

Then put in the shower door. Many people forget the importance of using a level when putting on the door. You want to make sure you have your handy level with you and use it and check your work at all times when hanging a door. Drill holes carefully when you are working with the tile and attach the door. This whole job takes about five days. Have fun doing this and you will look forward to your new bathroom.

There are many folks out there changing the way their bathrooms look over the Christmas season. If you are one of those folks, you will want a few ideas one which bathroom suites you will choose.
