15 Jun 2009Everyone is intrigued by skinny people. We wonder what it will take for us to get that kind of figure or if the skinny are that way because of their family characteristics. Did the thin hit a lucky streak? Or must they work extra hard to keep that svelte figure.
It might be, then again, it might not
The unnaturally thin work extremely hard at staying thin. They are the ones downing lettuce without dressing and watching every single food item that crosses their lips.
Fortunately, there is another group of folks who make skinny look like a cakewalk.
Many common character traits are shared by the naturally thin that help to maintain their svelte figures. Among the hundreds of naturally skinny people Ive interviewed over the last 14 years, Ive found seven secrets they have in common. If you can, try to identify with some of them. Also, see what changes you could easily make to become a naturally thin person with a svelte figure too.
1. These people have thin thinking. They know they can stay thin forever and make comments like Im little, or Im not going to be able to eat all of that. Their self talk is different than others. Their actions to circumstances and events are different. Food is not their placebo when a pet dies or they have to do something unpleasant. To them food is just food. It may taste good, they enjoy eating it, but it isnt there for anything but to be used as fuel for their bodies.
2. Naturally thin people do not diet. True Story. They would never ever think of dieting. If asked why, their response is that theyve never thought of themselves as anything but skinny so theyve never had to diet. During my many years of research one question I asked every thin person if they had ever been concerned about gaining weight and their response was always no. When I asked why not, the would tell me Ive never been heavy or over weight
3. The naturally thin dont mix emotions and food. If the thin are sad, they cry or call a friend. If they are angry, they go work out or punch their pillows. There is little to no crossover between emotions and eating. It simply doesnt make sense to them. The only reason food is ever thought of is because they get hungry ” thats it. If they are not hungry, but sad ” they will deal with their sadness. Dealing with emotions in an emotional way is commonplace for this thin group.
4. Naturally thin people dont have to eat to be sociable. Shuld a thin person go to a bar-b-que and not be hungry, they dont have any problem mixing and talking but not eating. Whenever they happen to get hungry, they grab something to eat, but not until they are hungry. They are there to enjoy the socializing with family and friends. They dont know the meaning of the term grazing.
5. Being naturally thin means eating what a person loves. It doesnt mean eating celery sticks if they arent craving celery sticks. Eating foods they crave takes place when they are hungry. They would never think of not eating something or saying no, that isnt good for me unless of course there is some allergy or sensitivity to the food. Thin people know they can eat whatever they want should they be hungry.
6. The naturally thin dont numb out or mindlessly eat. They stay conscious of what they’re eating and the effects it’s having on their body. They would almost never find themselves with their hand at the bottom of a bucket of popcorn at a movie, wondering who ate it all. These naturally thin men and women know how hungry or full they are before, while, or after they a meal. Naturally thin people are ignorant about food. They don’t know anything about diets, and the process of counting calories baffles them.
7. Overeating is not something naturally thin people do. This group of individuals see no value in overeating. They know it saps their energy and causes their bellys to protrude. Yuck! Overeating causes extreme discomfort and reinforces the negative feeling while keeping them from overeating. Overeating occuis less than two percent of the time in naturally thin people.
Can you tell the difference in their mindset and actions?
Now you know that thin has nothing to do with luck, or genetics, the quality or type of food. Thin people dont gain weight because of how they eat, their connection with their body, when they eat and the freedom to choose any type of food.
Having said that, if you’re thinking about losing weight, nows the time to do it. You dont have to diet. The naturally thin dont.
