In a hot air radiant floor heating system, hot air is pumped thru pipes laid under the flooring. The hot air can come thru a regular furnace or a solar heater. Neither option is extraordinarily practical in terms of cost and convenience. Using a solar heater, for instance, may work during the day time but is quite worthless for the night. Of course you can combine the solar heating with a typical furnace for the night, but then you have got to contend with the incontrovertible fact that air cannot sustain heat for a long period.

It is usually best to have a laminated wooden floor, which can face up to the heat better, rather than a complete wood en one.
