Symptoms of pregnancy can bring about a lot of joy and pleasure in the expectant parents, that goes without saying. The expectant mothers body will have to deal with a number of key changes however, so its as well to understand from the outset what can happen and how to deal with it if it does.

Not only does pregnancy take a toll physically but it can affect mental stability too. One moment you may feel really happy and positive where everything in life seems perfect, the next however and you are all doom and gloom and worried about what’s going to happen. This sort of emotional roller coaster can lead to high levels of stress.

This is very normal as there are many things to be considering. Is the baby progressing okay and gaining the correct amount of weight? Is it too large or too small? What if its premature? Is the baby going to be a boy or a girl? Am I eating the right foods and taking the right supplements?

You may be wondering about all sorts of things such as ” will the baby be overweight when its born, or under weight; will it be premature or perhaps late delivery; will it be okay mentally and physically; am I taking in enough supplements and getting enough of the right foods…? Lots of things to get unnecessarily worked up about, but understandable if you do.

Within the initial two weeks just after conception a hormonal trigger is set, which will then allow for mums body to start with the nourishment of the baby, which will happen previous to any type of examination can confirm pregnancy. The most common physical changes include the following:

1.Increased breast sensitivity. This is due to increased hormonal activity. The breasts will probably feel heavier and fuller. This sensitivity can be relieved somewhat with a good bra at the correct size.

2.Increases in breast sensitivity. This is brought about by the increase in hormonal activity and the breasts will be heavier and more full. Using a good quality and well fitting bra can help to reduce any discomfort.

3.Heightened levels of dizziness. Blood sugar levels and hence energy levels will quickly change and this can bring about dizziness. Therefore to combat this, try not to stand still for long periods and snack regularly on healthy foods such as low-fat yogurt and dried fruits. If the dizziness persists then seek advice from your physician.

4.Onset of nausea. A very common symptom of pregnancy is that of nausea. This is caused by hormonal changes and may be reduced by the intake of small regular meals rather than large meals two or three times a day. Ginger is good for reducing nausea and can be taken in tea or as ginger ale. Or, you can use it often in cooking, such as in stir fries (preferably with only a little olive all and lots of water).

5.Breast sensitivity increase. Again, increased hormonal activity is often the cause of this symptom where the breasts will feel more full and heavier. A good fitting bra that offers good levels of support can help to somewhat alleviate sensitivity in the breasts.
