Delta founder Herbert Tautz started his one man operation in his garage, in Tautz’ Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1919, making small tools for home shops. It was initially called the “Delta Specialty Company. It later expanded into light industrial machinery and up the ranks with its unrelenting dedication to manufacturing innovative and quality machinery and economical tools for craftsmen all over the country.

By 1945, the business was known as the Delta-Milwaukee, and was subsequently bought by Rockwell Manufacturing Company. Through the years, Rockwell became a major tool manufacturer in stationary and woodworking machinery by expanding its product line and from acquiring such companies as Walker-Turner and Crescent Machine Company. In 1981, it was sold to Pentair and renamed Delta, the brand name it carries today. In 2004, Black and Decker acquired Delta.

Delta Woodworking Machinery’s first commercial success was in 1938 when it introduced the industry’s first and only 10″ saw – the Unisaw Cabinet Saw, the first machine operated viable tilting arbor cabinet saw. Its performance during that time was unequaled compared to the traditional tilt top bench saws. It also set the standard for the 14″ band saw which saw its design being copied then by almost all band saws, and even still to this day. From the hobbyist market segment, it expanded its horizons to cater to the industrial sector, thus firmly establishing itself as one of today’s top industrial power tools manufacturer.

Today, Delta continues its long heralded history as a serious manufacturer of quality, top performance, reliable, innovative power tools, equipments and accessories for woodworking professionals. It has various products such as: air compressors, air compressor combo kits, air tools, cordless, dovetail and joinery machines, drills, dust management, generators, grinders, nailers/staplers, routers & laminate trimmers, sanders & polishers, saws, specialty, drilling & boring machines, grinding & sharpening, jointers, lathes, planers, shapers, & stock feeders.

All machines, no matter how durably built from top to bottom, from the most advanced raw materials and production innovations, will always succumb to the effects of natural wear and tear – most especially tools which have seen heavier use than normal, and in the toughest working conditions. That’s why Delta advises every owner of any Delta power tool equipment to replace its worn or broken parts only with Delta genuine replacement parts, and should be serviced by a qualified Delta technician . With a highly-qualified and trained technician your trusty Delta power tool will be made as good as new, as the first day you purchased it.

Wit Delta, all woodworking jobs will be made easier as it continues to pursue pioneering breakthroughs to make all existing Delta power tools work more efficiently as possible for years to come.
