If you have an extra room in your home you may want to consider turning that room into a guest room. You want to provide your guests with the privacy that they need and an inviting decor. You want your guests to feel cozy and invited back for another visit. There are a few things to consider before you begin decorating the bedroom.

The colors that you put up in this room can be what you like, but maybe it would be better to go for a more neutral look. Don’t choose a color that makes people upset and feel distracted. A bedroom is to be relaxing, so pick cool colors to paint the walls in. A more simple design scheme is a better idea for a guest room. You don’t need to make this room a sanctuary, but a nice room that will allow anyone a nice place to sleep. Put in a bed that goes well in the room and one that has pillows on it those extra throw pillows that can add in some extra color to the room.

Don’t forget to put in a night stand; this will give your guests a space to keep their things when sleeping at night. A small dresser may even be a good idea. Put in a few baskets so they can place items in to keep until they need to use them. Or a chair can make a nice addition to the room, and make it seem homier.

With a dresser you don’t need to go with something that is huge, but a medium size dresser so that they will have a place to put their clothes up. Don’t forget some of the basic items, like a radio that has a clock so they can get up on time if needed. Sometimes if you can afford it a television so they can watch a bit before going to sleep at night. Try and add in a few other items that will help them out if needed, like tissues, or a hair dryer.

Another addition to your guest room should be area rugs. This will bring more color to your room and make it look even more attractive. Choose plush rugs that are multicolored so you can have a variety of color in the room. The plush rugs are so soft on your guests’ feet. You will also need a closet or area with pegs designed to hang clothes. If a bathroom is not in the room you now you may want to consider adding a bathroom later when you can work it in the budget.

If you are planning a bathroom in your guest room do it when you have other home improvement projects going on so it does not cost you extra to have a professional at your home.
