19 May 2009When you think of a bedroom, you think of the place where you sleep, and it should also be considered a place where you can go to relax. Of course the color that you choose when you decorate your bedroom will either bring across this feeling of relaxation or will come across too busy. So choose wisely when it comes to the colors and patterns you use when you go to decorate that bedroom.
Bedroom rugs can add a whole lot of depth and character to your room, and this wholly depends on your personal preference and taste. Contemporary rugs with simple patterns may be suited for those who more modern-themed bedrooms, while those with highly ornate designs suit traditional-styled bedrooms more. If the design is too dreary for your taste, then throw that wild-colored rug on the floor to jazz things up a notch.
You don’t need to put these rugs on the floor only; in fact putting them on a wall will add some nice texture to the wall. Not only that but it will also be something different that many people will notice.
What about guest bedrooms, then? Can having the right area rug make a difference? The answer is yes. Remember that a bedroom is a place for comfort, and as a good host, you would want to make your guest as comfortable as possible. Since guest bedrooms are not used as often as the main ones, they tend to have an air that suggests emptiness and inhabitation. The right rug can give a warm atmosphere, if the colors are soothing enough to complement the room’s furniture and overall design.
Choosing a rug for your child’s bedroom has a slightly different approach. While it may seem okay to use a rug that takes up a lot of floor space, children like to play with toys on smooth surfaces. A smaller, inexpensive rug is often the best thing to decorate it with, since kids can sometimes stain your rugs faster than you can clean them. Also make sure that its design matches the room’s theme. Soothing colors are a must to induce that comfortable, dreamful sleep. Trust me, you’ll sleep a whole lot better that way without your kid waking you up in the middle of the night to tell you that he can’t sleep a wink.
In order to make the bedroom seem more relaxing you really won’t need to spend a lot of money. A simple addition of a rug into a bedroom will change the mood and make it much more comfortable. Don’t forget that you can also place these area rugs on the wall for a completely different look too.
