It is entirely possible to create your perfect luxurious bathroom however small your room or budget. Here are some tips gathered from top designers in the UK:
1. Furniture
If you have room for an armchair put one in. You dont have to buy a new armchair, a second hand one will do, covered with a nice linen sheet or a luxurious throw like faux fur.
2. Wallpaper is usually cheaper than tiling
Did you know that you can get water resistant coated wallpaper from many home improvement stores? Not only is it usually cheaper (and easier) than tiling the whole bathroom, but choosing the right (coordinated!) pattern can really add the wow factor.
3. Colour me Beautiful
Coordinate your colours. In a small bathroom this is essential. This not only includes the fittings (the bath and basins and floor) but everything from the towels to the blinds, the bathmats and shower curtains.
When choosing a colour scheme, think about the following:
Red for vitality and excitement.
Blue to relax and unwind.
Green is to invigorate: it fights depression, calms the nerves and resfreshes, hence it being used in hospitals.
Choose Yellow to get a sense of wellbeing and happiness
4. Window Dressing
Using linen sheets (instead of curtains) in conjunction with blinds can add a real feeling of luxury .
5. Accessories
Accessories should be coordinated not only in colour but also to the theme of your bathroom. Glass or crystal bottles could contain coloured bubble bath. Paperweights as decorations for bathrooms are a good idea too. And if you have a toilet in your bathroom, you will want a magazine rack or bucket and or a small bookshelf.
6. Mirrors
Big mirrors or mirror tiles create the illusion of space and are especially important in small bathrooms.
7. Scented Candles
A must have. They look great, they freshen up the place and at night, magic!
