It’s no secret that women of all ages love the color pink – it has even been scientifically proven! Chances are you have a pink lover among your friends or family, and need to come up with new, fun gift ideas for Birthdays/Christmas/Valentine’s Day/Other Special Occasions. I’ve selected a few gifts I know I would love to receive.
Rose Body Oil With biodynamically grown ingredients, a solid blue glass bottle with a hot pink label and a subtle, soothing rose scent, this body oil from Weleda feels a lot more expensive than it is ($25). Even though it consists of almond, jojoba and rose oil, it does not feel greasy on your skin. The oil absorbs surprisingly fast, and leaves your whole body feeling smooth, hydrated and smelling faintly like a rose garden (but not too much so!).
Chic Lady Wine Opener The unique “swing system” of the Chic Lady corkscrew from French company L’Atelier du Vin takes the struggle out of uncorking your wine. Softly curved and stylish, it comes in pale or hot pink and retails for around $44. If you’d like to include a bottle of wine with it, may I suggest Domaine de la Mordore La Dame Rousse ros?
Stovetop Espresso Machine Bialetti’s cute logo alone is enough to make me want to add any of their products to my kitchen (and I rarely drink coffee!). But it just got even better with the release of 2 pink versions of their stovetop espresso/cappuccino makers: The Dama Pink ($42.95) and the Mukka Express ($89.95). Not only do they produce amazingly tasty espresso and cappuccino, they look fantastic, and a part of the proceeds of each goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Flip Video MinoHD Is it the world’s smallest camcorder? No (Spy Gadgets sells one the size of a stick of gum), but it’s still tiny: it only measures 3.94″x1.97″x0.63″ and weighs 3.3oz. And it is definitely the cutest – you get to design it. There are tons of existing styles to choose from, but you can also create your own pattern, or even upload a photo and use that! A few important specs: 4GB memory, internal rechargeable battery, built in USB connector, 1.5″ LCD screen, ultra-low light sensitivity, 2x digital zoom, f/2.4 lens, tripod mount. $209-$229.
Samsung TL9 Digital Camera The metallic bubblegum pink Samsung TL9 is not only a great little camera; it’s also a jack-of-all-trades. Packed into its stylish body are also MP3 and multimedia players, a text viewer, camcorder, and voice recorder. The camera part features 10.2 megapixles, a 5x optical zoom, a (35mm equivalent) focal length of 38 ~ 190mm, dual image stabilization, face, smile and blink detection, and a beauty shot mode which automatically retouches facial skin. Dashboard-style dials tell you how much battery life and memory you have left. It’s tiny too: 3.7×2.3×0.8″ and 4.9 oz. $229-$253.
Cell Phone Ever heard of Vertu? This surprisingly little-known UK-based Nokia subsidiary make all their cell phones by hand and use materials such as ruby bearings, gold, platinum and liquidmetal (which is twice as hard a stainless steel). $6,300 and up.
There are three pink phones in their “Constellation” collection: the “Monogram Cerise”, the “Core Range Pink” and the “Precious Range”. The Monogram and Core both have pink leather backs and stainless steel fronts, and the Precious is black leather and 18k rose gold with black ceramic keys. All weigh 5 oz., have GSM coverage in 180 countries, Bluetooth email, web browser, 400 hours of standby and 5.5 hours of talk time.
If you’re really in the mood to splurge, check out their Signature Diamonds collection. The Rose Gold Pink Diamonds phone in black, framed with a flower-design border, is made from white and pink diamonds, pink sapphires and rubies. Perhaps a good gift for those who really want to go all out but aren’t ready for that engagement ring quite yet
The most exclusive feature on these phones, however, is probably the “concierge button”. By pressing this little button (on the side of the phone), you reach a personal assistant, who can help you (24 hours a day) with everything from finding a perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner to arranging for a private jet so you don’t miss that important business meeting.
