The acai berry was a rather unknown and fairly little known before it was mentioned by Dr. Mehmet Oz on the Oprah Winfrey show. Dr. Oz has been dubbed “America’s favorite Doctor” and he is the co-author of the “You” series of health related books including “You, on a diet” and “You, staying young”.

With a suggestion from Dr. Oz the popularity of the acai berry has grown to broad proportions. Many people who are concerned in health, nutrition, weight loss, anti-aging and more have searched for the acai berry and correlated acai berry products.

However, there are companies that are claiming that Dr. Oz has endorsed their particular brand and product and this is not true. Dr. Oz did not and it is doubtful that he ever will sanction a specific product including MonaVie juice products. He recommended the acai berry as a wholesome food found in nature and one of the healthiest foods found on the earth.

The fact is that the acai berry is actually a fruit and Dr. Oz proclaimed the superior nutrition of the fruit. There is not any particular company that makes these products that has a right to use his endorsement. Dr. Oz has also made truthful claims about other foods such as white tea, red wine, broccoli, sweet potatoes and tomatoes.

Dr. Oz has over and over again mentioned the benefits of certain foods and he recommends that we eat about 5 servings of antioxidant-rich foods per day. He mentioned the acai berry as a fruit because it has two times the antioxidant content as a blueberry, which makes it a wonderful choice to add to your diet. If you are choosing a juice product make sure that there is not an undue amount of carbohydrates in the product.

Many top doctors and nutritionists have recommended the acai berry because it does contain such a plethora of antioxidants. It also contains a synergy of monounsaturated (the healthy kind) of fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols, which promote cardiovascular and digestive health and an almost perfect essential amino acid complex in conjunction with precious trace minerals.

But just as Dr. Oz and others have not approved a particular brand of broccoli, a certain maker of wine or a brand of white tea, they have not authorized a brand name of acai berry products. They have only expressed the truthfulness of the important nutrition found in the berry itself.

There are an large quantity of acai berry products available on the marketplace and as with anything there are high quality products and those of a lesser quality. One significant characteristic to look for in an acai berry product is a freeze-drying process as that has been confirmed the best way to uphold the potency of the organically occurring nutrients.
