23 Feb 2009Everyone knows that they should drink eight glasses of water every day. And it’s important that this water be as pure as possible. At work or at home, you’re probably comfortable with the quality of water that you’re drinking. Many workplaces have a water cooler with pure, filtered water available. In the home, a number of people use residential water filters to eliminate harmful particles from their water.
But when you’re constantly on the go, it can be difficult to find clean, pure water. That’s why you need a portable water bottle with a filter. All you do is fill up the bottle with water from the tap. The filter takes out the chlorine, lead and much of the bacteria in just seconds.
You can find water bottles with filters in various locations such as sporting goods and outdoor stores. They look just like a regular plastic water bottle, but they contain a small water filtration unit inside. You can refill these durable bottles many times before they wear out. A filtered water bottle will last for many years with a periodic filter change being the only ongoing cost.
There are several advantages to using a bottle with a portable water filter. They are able to remove all sorts of impurities from the water, including bacteria and chemicals. They’re easy to take with you wherever you go because they’re portable and lightweight. The average price is $15, plus the cost of replacement cartridges. So they’re an economical alternative to bottled water that you purchase in the store.
However, you might find it hard to believe that there’s anything more convenient than bottled water. But the fact is that bottled water isn’t really more convenient than water from a portable water bottle. In reality, it’s just more easily available. You’ll see it everywhere you go, from convenience stores and vending machines to takeout restaurants.
But there’s a high price to pay for this convenience. It usually costs at least twice the price you’d pay at the supermarket.
Another consideration is that your bottle of water might not be as pure and healthy as you think. It’s been shown that not all companies that produce bottled water meet the requirements regarding safe levels of contaminants. In one study, more than 15 percent of brands tested contained significantly higher levels of bacteria than allowable under national standards. And approximately 20 percent of the brands tested positive for the presence of synthetic chemicals.
A good quality portable water bottle filter starts to look more attractive when you consider all the facts. Carry it along everywhere you go and just fill it up when it’s empty. You can be assured that it will remove any contaminants found in the water. And it saves you money. What’s not to love?
