Mobility Scooters UK: What Questions You Need To Ask

As my mobility issues worsened, I felt too much of an obligation to my family; having to be ferried here, there and everywhere. I decided to do something about it, and joined the rather fun and, dare I say; exciting world of the mobility scooters UK family.

When I first started looking at what was available, it was great fun. But having chatted with a couple of sales people, it dawned on me that there were a few things to bear in mind.

One young man asked me whether I would be using the scooter outside. Initially, I thought this was a silly question; but when he explained, I realised it was all about how far I’d travel and how good access was in my area. As it turned out, the paving and kerbs in my area are very bad for the mobility scooters UK user.

Also important, (and again linked to where the scooter will be used most), regards the size and charging of the battery packs. When ascertaining which capacity you need, try to estimate how long the longest journey you could possible take will be. And then add a little extra!

Other questions to have in mind include: Is it easy to dismantle? Can I store it easily? What warranties and service cover should I have?

Some questions are not easy to answer, so it could be advisable to check through your exact requirements with your care advisor. This is particularly so if you need to have your scooter adapted with tailored seats or footrests.

Joining in with the revolution of mobility scooters UK pensioners are now taking advantage of is not boring however, despite these rather tiresome points. Just make sure you have considered everything, and then you can enjoy the world of scooters to the full!
