Experiencing Hair Fall in Men

Hair fall in men is a terrifying discovery for most men. But it’s generally accepted because it’s much more prevalent than hair fall in women. So most people tend to think that it’s just normal; and so, therefore, nobody really gets upset about it except the men who are losing it.

Most men find losing their hair to be very disturbing because they associate it with old age. This is especially true because usually they’re not old when they start losing their hair. Statistics show that 50% of men experience hair thinning by the time they’re 30. What’s worse is that a quarter of those men losing their hair because of heredity (which is a very high percentage–95% of male pattern baldness)–a quarter of them actually wind up losing it before they turn 21. So as you can see, hair fall in men can be especially shocking the earlier one finds out that he is losing his hair.

After the initial shock you then rush to find a treatment or cure on the Web to end this curse. And what do you find? A plethora of hair fall treatments ranging from topical solutions and foams to hair fall vitamins and shampoos. Of course, you can get a check-up with your physician to see if it’s an hormonal imbalance or stress like losing your job or experiencing a death in the family. And you can even see your dermatologist to check for your scalp and hair follicle condition.

Now you can search a whole lot of places to find hair fall solutions for men, but the truth of the matter is that while there may be a fantastic product and another not so, every body is unique. And so everyone is going to handle it differently. Something that works for someone over here may not work for someone over there. One person may have an allergy; another person needs something super strong. And for yet another just the smallest help does the trick in the beginning.

Now what about this heredity, that you inherited this hair fall? What exactly did you inherit? Does your hair just start falling out for no reason? No. There is actually a cause, a physiological cause triggered by a chemical reaction in the brain. And what that is, is that you were actually born with a genetic sensitivity to a certain hormone called dihydrotestosterone or DHT for short. And what the brain does is it reads that hormone as being something that is toxic to your hair follicles. In reality dihydrotestosterone is not toxic. You are just sensitive to it much as if you were sensitive to dust or pollen or pet dander. Those things really are not toxic to you, but your brain just reads it that way.

Well, the same is true with hair fall in men. Your brain tells your body that this chemical, dihydrotestosterone, is toxic, when it’s not–you’re just sensitive to it. Thinking it is protecting you, your brain orders your hair follicles to shrink or close so that they will not come in contact with it anymore. The problem with that is that without a follicle you can grow no hair! And during the shrinking process, the hair starts to look unhealthy and fall out sooner.

So you’ve got two things going on there. You have hair that’s not staying in as long, so it’s shorter when it falls out. It’s thinner. It’s more brittle. It’s dull-looking. It’s just a different, weaker hair. And then you you are also losing hair more quickly.

The most common way to reverse hair fall in men is by blocking the DHT in the first place. That way your brain doesn’t tell your hair follicles to shrink. Minoxidil is an ingredient approved by the FDA to actually block DHT. In clinical studies it has proven as a single ingredient to reverse hair fall in 80 percent of it’s users.
