22 May 2009If I asked you to eat my anti aging skin care cream would you have the courage to do it?
I understand it’s a ridiculous sounding question but you’re about to see how appropriate it is if you use skin care products.
It’s highly likely that you already know you cannot have faith in skin care product companies and all their amazing sounding marketing claims. The facts are they’re not being honest with you nor giving you all the details. Their biggest industry skeleton in the cupboard is a definitely a gastly one – that their products contain hazardous and toxic chemicals which can hurt you.
It’s important to understand that this certainly includes the well-recognized, big brand names.
UNSAFE CHEMICALS
So, why precisely do skincare companies do something so horrible as to utilize hazardous chemicals in their products?
You’ve no doubt already guessed the answer – MONEY! Profits, profits and more profits! Your health and safety comes in a remote second to their multi million dollar profits.
Skin care companies manufacture to a prearranged price – and this is the heart of the problem! The scientists and chemists who put together their products do not get a free hand in selecting ALL the very best and most efficient ingredients. They are set an upper budget cutoff point and they must formulate within that budget! This results in the inclusion of much cheaper chemicals in place of natural options and pitifully insignificant dose amounts of the truly effective active ingredients.
Here’s a perfect illustration for you. One of the most elite, well known global skin care companies, which you absolutely know (their brand name begins with the letter ‘C’) considerately includes a dreadful chemical in their skin care formulas which is classified as a PESTICIDE! The name of this grusome ingredient is TRICLOSAN! It’s an anti-bacterial chemical which destroys dangerous organisms on the skin BUT also destroys helpful bacteria! There is clinical support that triclosan might be a cause in creating strains of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics since it is so commonly used use in the skin care industry.
Why would any of us in our right minds let a chemical used in weed killers to be absorbed into our bodies!
Skin care products should be pure enough to Consume! This should be the target for manufacturers and one of your major criteria when choosing anti aging skin care products. At all times keep this in mind: active ingredients are adsorbed into your bloodstream so that means it’s equivalent as eating them!
As you would expect, it’s more expensive to use naturally sourced options. Sourcing high-quality, 100% natural moisturizing oils, vegetable-based waxes and silicones, reparative proteins, antioxidants, vitamins and plant extracts are considerably more expensive. Shareholder pressures in the big|huge|giant multi nationals simply don’t allow the fully natural choice to have a look in. They are scrupulously focused on maintaining and inflating their amazingly excessive profit margins.
THE WORD ‘NATURAL INGREDIENT’
We’ve all seen that term ‘natural ingredient’. But have you ever carefully examined the list of ingredients on an “All Natural” facial skin care product? Despite of the ‘All Natural’ claims, there’s a amount of pretty alarming and completely chemical sounding names printed there. But the skin care company might not actually be deceiving you.
Ingredients are listed with their INCI names which is an global scientific categorization for all ingredients. This allows for consistency from product to product and allows consumers to simply compare ingredients across brands. INCI stands for “International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients” So, naturally sourced ingredients listed using their INCI label can and do appear to be chemicals even though they are not.
Although the INCI name can be misleading! It does not differentiate between an ingredient that is derived from petroleum and another which is derived from a natural plant source if the end substance broadly has a similar structure.
Here’s an example for you – ‘Glycerine’. You’ll find this ingredient in skin care formulas as a humectant. What you absolutely want is natural plant based glycerine. But most companies use petroleum-based glycerine because it’s drastically cheaper. Plant based glycerine is entirely safe to consume. Who wants petroleum-based glycerine absorbed into their body?
SKIN CARE PRODUCTS – WHAT TO CONCENTRATE ON
Clearly you need to be very particular with the skin care products you decide to use. The bottom line when comparing and sizing up brands is that you consider both purity (ie. No chemicals whatsoever – safe enough to eat) AND efficacy (number and dose amount of most important active ingredients).
The kind of skin care company you should deal with is the type which allows their scientists to formulate the very best formulas possible that actually work and are completely safe enough to eat, and which sets reasonable prices for its products according to the cost of manufacture and not simply at the highest point which the market will bear (like the elite brands do). Thankfully there are companies like that operating but the gloomy is that there are not many and locating them is really time consuming and requires alot of research.
That’s where I can help out. I worked for a skin care product manufacturer so I understand all the industry secrets. I’ve reviewed hundreds of skin care products. Click the links in the author resource box underneath and I’ll guide you to some exceptional anti aging skin care products whose all natural formulas have 2-3 times more actives than the majority of skin care companies (particularly the elite brands), charge about a third of the expensive major brands (and if you want to eat them you’ll be quiet safe!)
