The teen years are far from a walk in the park, self discovery, identity issues, peer pressure and having to learn how to deal with the world at large is having surgery in their best interest for the sake of appearance? (Beyond reconstructive plastic surgery, which helps restore or repair deformity or damage to the external body). There are right and misguided reasons in undergoing plastic surgery.

As so many case studies have proven time and time again, changing your appearance doesnt solve emotional problems (like feeling accepted or more desirable). For this reason cosmetic surgeons will often interview you before accepting you as a patient. The surgeon is going to look for the following:

1)Is the patient being realistic in their need for the surgery 2)What is the rational behind wanting the surgery 3)What is their mental and emotional well being 4)What are their expectations of the surgery and results.

Cosmetic surgery is just that… Surgery. Which means that youll be put under and cut open. It may sound harsh but it is important to realize that plastic surgery is still a medical procedure full of recovery pain, potential for complication and risks. When you add all the time, stress and recovery factors together it may be too much for some people to handle. Preparation and research are key to the success of the surgery.

There are certain age considerations to take into account. There are procedures such as rhinoplasty that can only be preformed once the body has matured and the nose has fully formed. This can vary from person to person and is typically different for men and women. It is not uncommon for a cosmetic surgeon to deny surgery for this reason. Along with physical restrictions there are also age restrictions by law for breast implants and augmentation that vary from place to place, with the exception of special circumstance (such as a dramatic imbalance in the size of the breast, or complete lack of development. Such case are screened per person basis) or reconstructive procedures.

Please keep the following in mind before making a final decision:

We all have something we dislike about ourselves… its just being selfconscience and vain. This is especially true for teenagers. No matter the age, people need to learn how to deal with low self esteem and work on gaining the confidence need to feel / be attractive. As mentioned earlier, plastic surgery doesnt give confidence.

More often than not the answer isnt surgery; it is diet and getting into shape. It is astonishing what the right diet and exercise can do. If youre a girl and are concerned with breast development there are exercises that are proven to enhance breasts with out the need for surgery. If you are self conscious because you think youre over weight, or even if you are bigger, getting lipo or a gastric bypass is dangerous and should you have a problem with eating or lack of exercise it wont solve anything. Get out and work out! eat right and talk to someone, it isnt easy and having someone to talk to is important both for understanding and support. Looking good and more important feeling good about yourself is a life long commitment….. best get use to it when youre young, its fun if you let it.

When it comes down to it, the answer isnt surgery its a matter of eating right and exercise. This ranges from everything to girls that want bigger breasts to teens wanting to be thinner. For girls, the right kind of exercises and natural supplements will result in breast enlargement. For teens considering liposuction or gastro bypass surgery, you have to know the risks and that these are sever operations that will have a impact on you later in life. Whether you think you are fat or you are over weight, eating the right foods and having a good work out plan can make all the difference in the world, plus it will set you up for the rest of your life. The most attractive people are the ones that feel good about themselves not because of surgery but because they can see their own beauty. It is doubtful at best that cosmetic surgery is nothing more than fleeting obsession to distract you from the real problems you are facing.
