Colic is so Normal Among Babies

A baby grows inside its mom’s womb for more or less 9 months and is then born into this world. It is here were it gets a difficult work for both of the moms and dads. Getting that much required rest would be close to impossible as the infant will cry for more than three hours a day. Doctors call a newly born baby as colic if there is continuous crying for a long time and the cause of this is still under general study even though many theories can come close to explaining this. Two causes have been put forward for the gastrointestinal pain, which are the infant drinking the milk in a much faster pace and the other as baby ingesting air while reastfeeding. The mother’s diet may also add to the trouble or, as some suggest, the child’s immune system may be struggling to adapt to its new environment.

No matter of the cause, physicians believe that colic is common among newborns, so there is really nothing to worry about, as it will finally go away in a few months in any case. Nurturing and looking after for the child is the foremost step that the parents should take, and if it such even would not happen, some believe that it would make it more difficult in the period of adjustment. Even it doesn’t always work, there is single solution to take care of a colic baby. Most of the parents doing this searching work for which one is working properly for their child.

If the newborn is in the crib, try picking him up, supporting or rocking him, or even singing to him to help him fall asleep. Making the baby burp after breastfeeding can also prevent the baby from waking up but if the infant is full perhaps going for a ride in the car or in the carriage can make it go away. The baby’s sensitivity to noise can make it waken again and cry but this can be avoided by not making too many sounds although playing a CD of classical music can help make the baby rest.

A warm bath will help stop a newborn from crying but the parents should make sure that it should not be too hot for them. It is never too late to give the newborn a comforter as this will make the baby think that it is still nursing onto the mother’s breast when it is feeding. Since abdominal wind pains may cause colic signs simethicone drops may be dispensed, which reduce abdominal gas and relieve abdominal wind pains.

The last point is that the mother should alter her dietary habits because the food may be producing wind which is passed on to the infant in milk. Because it is not even classified as a illness or a disorder – intestinal colic is nothing serious, it is part of becoming a parent and has to be tolerated by the parent and baby until the infant is over it. To people who decide to begin a family, this is just one of the many hurdles they must face.
