Cerebral Palsy is a debilitating disease. Children that are diagnosed with cerebral palsy go through many treatments such as medical treatment. They go through many surgeries throughout their life; they suffer many problems like emotional, behavioral, and physical. Your bills get so high that insurance companies may not always pay for all the bills that accrue. There are many organizations in your area that provide families help for their child with cerebral palsy. However, there are instances where families come across medical malpractice. If this is the case and you are eligible, you must contact a lawyer immediately and they will help you be compensated for the losses.

The Connection Between Medical malpractice and Cerebral Palsy

Medical malpractice is sometime to blame for cerebral palsy in children. When this happens the family can get assistance from a lawyer who understands the needs and rights of families with cerebral palsy children. A cerebral palsy lawyer can help the family get compensation for the financial losses due to therapy, suffering, pain and medication required to care for a child with cerebral palsy.

It is not always easy to tell what caused cerebral palsy and being aware of medical malpractice is something families should know about. There are cases where medical malpractice has occurred. Some things to be aware of when you are giving birth are:

*When the mother or baby has an infection

*Seizures

*Jaundice that is severe

*When the delivery is traumatic

When you have experienced any of the above it is important to contact a cerebral palsy lawyer right away. The statute of limitations applies in these cases so acting immedicately is important.

When Damage Occurs to the Brain

The brain of an infant or a child is delicate. Damage can occur to a developing brain such as not enough oxygen during delivery. It is imperative that doctors are cautious when they deliver babies. If something like lack of oxygen happens, or infections are not taken care of properly, cerebral palsy can occur.

It is the doctors and the medical personnels responsibility to make sure that the mother and her baby receive the proper care during childbirth. If an infection goes without treatment, C-sections arent taken care of in a timely manner, or any failure of recognizing issues can hurt the child, and possibly cause cerebral palsy.

Contact a Lawyer Experienced in Cerebral Palsy Cases

Contact a cerebral palsy lawyer if you think your childs cerebral palsy was caused by medical malpractice. A lawyer knows your rights involving medical malpractice. These cases have a statute of limitations so act as soon as possible.

The medical malpractice stuff is especially scary when it involves infants. I wonder how many babies with jaundice get palsy though, I think the former is common.
