8 Jun 2009Generally speaking, your metabolism is the amount of calories your body burns every day for basic biological functions. Increasing it is a great way to accelerate arm fat burning.
Also keep in mind that your metabolism is mostly under your control. Please do not buy into the outdated argument that you inherit and are stuck with a fast or slow metabolism. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Are you ready to take control of your metabolism? Here are 4 tips for taking your metabolism to new heights:
1. Early exercise. Exercising early in the day is one of the best things you can do for your metabolism. Not only will you burn a surplus of calories throughout the entire day, but the majority of the food you eat will be partitioned towards all your active tissues. The end result? Your arm fat cells will get starved.
2. Keep your workouts short and to the point. Working out for hours on end is unnecessary, painful and counterproductive. All that’s needed is a hard 45 minute workout (30 minutes if you go really hard). The resulting EPOC (exercise post oxygen consumption) will have you burning additional calories 36 hours after the workout. Even while you sleep
3. Drink small amounts of water in between meals. Your body becomes dehydrated in between meals because it uses stored water for digestion. You have to prevent this by drinking small amounts of water when you are NOT eating because dehydration slows your metabolism down.
4. Cut calories by very small amounts. No exceptions here. Once your caloric intake is below 80% of your needs, your metabolism will come to a screeching halt. Your body will produce fat friendly enzymes and your thyroid will decrease its output.
So if you think getting on a 1000-calorie diet is going to speed up fat loss, think again. This is very unhealthy and provides little benefit if at all.
Start practicing the above tips TODAY so that your arm fat begins to melt away. The key is to take action now, not tomorrow. For most women, tomorrow never comes. Good luck!
