21 Oct 2009Let’s put this real simple right from the start: you cannot reach your goal weight and have a healthy body if you routinely drink calories that your body needs for nourishment. If you are ready to lose the weight once and for all, this is a very important issue that you cannot afford to ignore.
There are three main reasons that you should never drink your calories wile trying to lose weight or just make your body healthier, inside and out.
A Calorie is a Calorie: You may already know that part of losing weight is creating something called a “calorie deficit.” This essentially means that you have to take in fewer calories than your body can burn off in a given day. This turns into the biggest reason you should stop drinking your calories.
You may talk yourself into have a soda or other drink by thinking that it’s not the same as eating calories because these calories don’t fill you up. This is dangerous thinking, since your body does not make this distinction once the drink is in your system. All calories are the same to your body.
Satiety Levels: If you feel deprived or are severely restricted in the amount of calories you have to eat for real food, your chances of being successful on your eating plan are severely reduced. This is because your satiety levels are very important. Feel too deprived and you are on the fast track to failure.
When you drink some of your calories, you restrict the calories available for actual food consumption. If you simply take in extra calories through liquids without cutting back on food, you will stop the weight loss process by ruining that calorie deficit that you need.
If you are serious about stepping out of this trap, it’s time to exchange your high calorie drinks for calorie-free alternatives.
Intense Cravings: Many calorie-rich drinks contain sugar, caffeine, and other stimulants which actually make your body crave more. Rather than quenching your thirst and fulfilling the vital need of your body for constant hydration, these drinks make you feel thirstier. They make you think you need more and more, which in turn means you will be consuming more and more calories.
When you drink this type of drink, you are getting excess calories and absolutely nothing else. There are no nutrients that will nourish your body or aid in vital bodily functions. They do not even hydrate you or give your body needed moisture to survive. There simply is no use for them.
If you drink calories on a regular basis, consider it a self-destructive act. This is because you can do everything else right for weight loss, but actually turn over no results at all if you are undoing it all with high calorie drinks. Think of all the reasons here and realize that if you really want to get in shape, drop excess weight, and simply feel better about your body, you have to think more about nourishing and hydrating your body than momentary satisfaction of a soda.
