The Margaret River Wineries Region

The Margaret River area is a lovely region with a Mediterranean climate that’s on the dry side. Located in Western Australia’s lower southwest, it’s famous for surfing, wine, and being a great location for a weekend getaway or a long holiday. In fact, this region is one of the world’s best holiday destinations.

If you’re thinking about a trip to this region, you’re not going to regret it. You’ll enjoy a mild climate with little seasonal variation and an attractive natural setting. The areas many vineyards and lovely coastline make for beautiful scenery, and some of Western Australia’s best beaches are located in the Margaret River region.

A Margeret River getaway is a great way to relax and refresh yourself. There are lots of different activities to choose from – from spending time sunbathing or swimming on the area’s brilliant white beaches, surfing in the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean, or enjoying some of the delicious food and world reknowned wines this region is known for.

Unfortunately, many people on a trip to Perth don’t end up visiting this region. They may not know that Margaret River exists at all, or maybe they don’t realize all it has to offer. No matter what the reason, they’re missing out on something special.

The trip south is along a highway that doesn’t see a lot of use, so there’s no heavy traffic or similar annoyances to deal with. Plus, there are plenty of sights to see and attractions to visit on the way.

There are lots of great places to stay and places to visit once you reach the area – the wineries are well known. While this region is responsible for producing only three percent of Australia’s wine grapes, it produces about a fifth of the premium wines made in the country. If you take a tour, be sure to partake of any available samples!

There are luxury retreats, stylish hotels, bed and breakfasts, and accommodations for families or groups in this region. Check out a holiday rental, or even rough it for a while in one of the area’s campgrounds. It’s a great way to experience the natural scenery first hand.

The region is currently home to 90 vineyards and more than 100 growers of grapes. There are lots of great activities available, from cellar door sales to public tours and tastings.

It’s not just about wine, however. Remember to check out the Margaret River region’s great local foods – the cheese and chocolate are well known. In addition, its relativley empty beaches and great landscapes make the trip a lot of fun for relaxing and getting some exercise.

No one on a trip to Western Australia should allow themselves to miss out on all the great wines, food, and attractions of the Margaret River wine region. There’s so much to see and do, and so many opportunities to relax and enjoy yourself. No trip would be complete without a visit.
