19 Aug 2009Although some wedding rings are sold as matching sets, the vast majority of grooms will wear a ring that compliments but does not completely match the wedding band for the bride. There are many different styles of wedding rings for men that are stylish yet definitely masculine as well as a perfect match for the bridal set.
Simplicity and beauty while also being practical are some of the major considerations in selecting men’s wedding bands. It is important that they be a good match for the individual so designs range from very ornate through to simple and plain.
For a highly reflective, virtually indestructible option in wedding rings you may wish to consider tungsten rings for men. These rings will not tarnish and shiny surface will not scratch or become damaged even under extreme conditions. Tungsten itself is naturally a reflective silver color, more like chrome surface if polished than true silver.
Wedding rings made out of tungsten can also be black instead of silver. The ring itself is put through an ionization process that permanently alters the molecular structure of the ring, producing the deep black color. These black rings are very striking in appearance.
Tungsten carbide, because of its unique metal properties, can also be combined with other metals to make inlay patterns. Often yellow gold is used for a very unique option in wedding rings; however silver can also be used. Since silver doesn’t reflect light the same as tungsten, a pattern or inlayed design is produced.
Designs and patterns are also common on men’s wedding rings and these can be traditional or very modern. Although not always, typically the patterns such as the Greek keys or a Celtic pattern will closely match the same pattern or design in the bridal set.
There are several different styles of finishes on wedding rings that can also be used to create a pattern. Polished rings are reflective, especially if made from tungsten, however even silver, platinum and gold are very bright and shiny. Brushed surfaces or brushed finishes are more of a matte surface, closer to a satin finish.
Combining several finishes on wedding rings makes a pattern that is enduring and designed to stand op to any type of wear. Tungsten rings are particularly known for their enduring qualities and will not wear away like the softer gold rings will over time and with constant rubbing and movement.
Wedding rings that match are always going to be popular for couples, however with some bridal sets a man’s ring is not going to be offered. In these situations consider complementary styles of wedding rings that look masculine but still match the bride’s rings.
