Organising the groom’s stag party can be a gruelling chore, but at the same time it is of course an honour. It does however put quite a large amount of pressure on the organiser to prepare an event that people will remember for the right reasons, not for the wrong ones.

There are several areas that need to be attended to when planning for your party, firstly how long will it be. The fashion in recent times is for a weekend of activities or at the very least a day of activities followed by food, beer and what ever else springs to mind.

It is important to confirm the budget with all members of the group before final planning commences as you want everyone to fully enjoy themselves and not be spending amounts that more than they feel comfortable spending.

Once you have an idea of budget you can start looking at venues and activities. It is always a good idea to choose an activity that everyone can join in with, young, old etc. This can limit the choices but it will make for a better day for all if you think about the party as a whole.

A venue that has some nightlife close by is ideal, as well as some other activities preferably. That way you can plan your activities and events for Saturday, follow them with a night out and stay in a local hotel, then have some lighter events planned for the Sunday. It is advisable to have any dangerous activities or those that involve driving planned for the Saturday, so that on the Sunday, the more easy-going and gentler activities can help nurse the hangovers.

Alternatively you can find a venue that runs multi activity events in one location which makes your organising much easier as you only need to talk to one venue. On top of this, they may very well have local connections with hotels, restaurants, night clubs etc, making your search that much easier.

To give an underlying theme to the whole weekend and you’re not just stringing together a load of random activities, it is a good idea to have a light competition running throughout the events. This competition will need to be arranged so that everyone in the party has an equal chance of winning. A good way to achieve this is to somehow handicap the people who you know are good at certain events to allow the newbies to play with equal ability. This will create a positive and friendly atmosphere even among the guests who don’t know each other all that well.

Something else to think about when planning your activities is that as the average age of marriage gets higher, so does the average age of people attending stag parties. You will want to bear this in mind when planning events that you want everyone to join in with as you will have some young, fit and healthy people, whereas you will have some older and less athletic people.

It is difficult to decide between activities that will be really enjoyable to a few people and those that everyone will enjoy equally, however it is worth spending the time on making those decisions in order to organise a great stag event that is thoroughly enjoyed by all. Something else to consider is that the evening events should probably be split up for the sake of the older group members so that they can eat with the rest of the group, but then are free to depart if they want when the younger guests move on to a night club.
