The personal computer has not been around all that many years, but in those years a lot of different problems have occurred which really need to be taking care of as they occur. For example, whenever viruses first began to occur, they were wiping out computers all over the place and antivirus programs needed to be put into place an order to take care of it.

As the Internet came into play, personal computers began to be connected to each other through this world wide web of websites and it did not take very long before other problems begin to occur as a result of this. Unscrupulous individuals went beyond viruses, which were simply ways to harm somebody’s computer. They began to come out with small spyware programs that could cause a number of different problems for people that downloaded them.

One of the main problems with spyware is the fact that it hides in the background and watches absolutely everything that you do. At times, it is a simple keystroke recorder and it looks for things that you are typing, such as passwords, credit card numbers or other personal information. It can easily recognize that you are typing one of these numbers or items and it will transfer that information to somebody else on another computer so that they can use it for their own purposes.

There is another problem that comes along with spyware in many cases and that is the pop-up window. Some people try to correct this with pop-up blockers but quite honestly, you are fighting a losing battle. At times, there are so many pop up windows that are coming up all over the place that you cannot even see the computer screen underneath them. Although it is really only a way of showing advertising, at times those advertisements can be inappropriate for small children.

The fortunate thing is, you are not without options whenever it comes to clearing the spyware off of your computer. There are a number of different anti-spyware programs that are available which will help you to do exactly that. Some of them are extremely sophisticated and can attack a spyware program, much the same way that an antivirus program would get rid of the malicious virus.

The first thing that you’re going to want to do is to go to the anti-spyware website and find the scanner which is typically available for download. The scanner will look at your computer in order to find out exactly what is wrong with it and how many different pieces of spyware are on it. Allow the program to run its course, even if it takes a little while because the spyware often slows your computer down, making it difficult to scan.

The only other thing that is needed whenever you are finished with this initial scan is to allow the anti-spyware program to do its job and clean your computer from all of the problems that are occurring on it. This may take a little while to complete, but any time that you spend doing so is going to be well worth the effort once the spyware is gone. After the cleansing process has completed, you will restart your computer and you should recognize an immediate difference in how well it runs.
