21 Jun 2009Registry cleaners are a necessity for Windows PC owners. If you’re not cleaning your computer’s registry from time to time, it’s somewhat comparable to owning a vehicle without ever changing the oil – eventually you’re going to run into some problems.
But, while you’re trying to locate the greatest registry cleaning device on the market, you are given two separate types, and those are free and paid. Of course many people will opt to go with the free one, but there are also reasons to go with the paid one. The question is, are those benefits enough to warrant actually paying the fee?
Luckily we are here to help and we’ll show you the difference between free and paid. From there you can make this huge decision for yourself.
Free Registry Cleaners – The Good
1.They’re Free.
2. They’re available to everyone and if you wanted you could go get one right now.
3. The user community will provide support if the creator of the software is unable to.
4.You’ll be permitted to install on any machine you want and you will not get in trouble for it.
Free Registry Cleaners – The Bad
1. They may have limited-to-no support
2. The software may be out-of-date or become out-of-date due to lack of updates
3. The list of features can be very small, and because a few extra features may be required for the cleaning software to work properly, you may actually discover that the software is unsafe.
4. Obscure, yet free registry cleaners are more likely to contain malware or viruses than well-established, low-cost registry cleaning software
5. There is less incentive for the creator of the registry cleaning program to offer updates or support. In fact, many cannot support their programs due to the lack of funding.
Paid registry cleaner pros:
1. The paid software comes with better support in almost all cases.
2. These are less likely to contain malware, viruses, or other unfavorable programs
3. For the most part these will have free updates in the future and an opportunity to download new updates while you enhance your computer later on.
4. These generally come with a number of features not found with free software. While some features are for convenience only, other features, such as automatic backups, and in some cases – setting a system restore point, are safety features and really help to protect your system.
5. Paid programs are generally better-supported on a larger number of operating system platforms. For instance, some registry cleaners only work with Windows XP and Vista, but paid programs are more likely to work with older and newer versions of Windows operating systems like Windows 98, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 7.
6.Most paid registry cleaners will offer a demo that you can download from their website which will let you preview it’s features and see if it’s right for you before you decide to buy it.
Paid registry cleaning software cons:
1. They are not free – you actually have to pay for them.
2. Not all of the things the program developer promises can actually be delivered on, and that’s because some of them have no ethics. This doesn’t happen often, but be vigilant just in case.
3. You’ll quickly find out that not all registry cleaners are equal, because a few might provide a lot of features that are to do with security and there are a few that actually offer the exact same functions as a free version, which makes it a little silly to pay for it.
4. Some programs may limit the software to a pre-determined number of PCs on installations. This isn’t the norm, but if you have multiple computers, this is something to watch out for.
5. Mostly free registry cleaners have great benefits, but you’ll get more for your money if you buy a paid one.
Sure, there are costs involved, but there’s a good chance that you probably want to keep your computer for a while, so in our opinions – the minimal, one-time investment is definitely worth what you’re getting out of it.
