25 Jul 2009I got my first kindle some months ago and it is now a firm favorite of mine. It’s very easy to carry around weighing in at just over 10 ounces and about the same width as a normal magazine.
Like many people, before I first bought it I was unsure about whether it could really ever be a real replacement for a book. I always liked been able to hold the book in my hand. However, the 6 inch screen is very readable and designed to be just like a printed page.
The other thing that is really cool about the kindle is that no matter how long you are suing it for it does not get hot which is excellent. The text can be easily changed to a larger or even smaller font and the pictures can be zoomed in on to fill the whole screen.
There is a button on either side to turn pages with and a 5 way controller to adjust and flip through articles with.
The Kindle is a wireless device meaning that it connects up to the Amazon Kindle network automatically. You do not need to subscribe to any contract or pay a fee or even find a Wi-Fi hot spot to get it to work. It also only takes around sixty seconds to download you favorite book.
If you decide to leave the wireless connection on all the time so that you are always connected to the Amazon network then it will last around 4 days. However, turn this off and you will get a full 2 weeks out of it.
The kindle is very easily recharged and you can either choose to do it with a USB cable or from the mains using a special adapter that comes with it.
You can currently get over three hundred thousand books for the kindle and this number is growing day by day. I really don’t ever feel the need to go back to ordinary books these days. In fact it’s only downfall is that it is not cheaper.
