It seems that each October the ghosts, the ghouls, the witches and the goblins come out. Halloween is in the air, but chilling motion pictures are enjoyable to observe all year long. Here are a few bloodcurdling motion pictures that you can download immediately.

Impressive horror motion pictures often get remade over and over again. “House on Haunted Hill” originally came out in 1959 and then again in 1999, 40 years afterward. In the movie a millionaire and his wife offer 5 visitors the possibility to be paid some cash, ironically with inflation it was only $10,000 in 1959 and a cool $1,000,000 in 1999, if they can remain the whole night in a haunted dwelling.

In the 1959 adaptation the millionaire was played by Vincent Price. Other players included Carol Ohmart, Richard Long, Alan Marshal, Carolyn Craig and Elisha Cook. The characters changed names, occupations and characteristics in the 1999 version but the story stayed the same. Geoffrey Rush played the millionaire, along with Famke Jannsen as his wife. The guests included Taye Diggs, Peter Gallagher, Chris Kattan, Ali Larter and Bridgette Wilson.

The most famed vampire in history is Bram Stoker’s Dracula. In 1931 the first Dracula film starred Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula. A more current edition in 1992 starred Gary Oldman as Dracula. Francis Ford Coppola directed that version. It also starred Wynona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves.

Many adaptations of Dracula have been made all through the years and though there are some differences the main tale remains the same, a vampire inflicts terror on the inhabitants of Transylvania. Bram Stoker authored the original novel back in 1897.

And the next one to see is “The Prince of Darkness” from 1987. A long-lost and forgotten canister is found in an abandoned Los Angeles church. The canister contains the devil himself and if it is unleashed it could mean the end of civilization, as we know it. It is up to the Pastor and a group of students to avert the chaos.

“The Prince of Darkness” stars Donald Pleasence, Jameson Parker, Victor Wong and Lisa Blount. Alice Cooper, the rock star, makes an appearance as a street schizo. John Carpenter directed the movie.
